Celebrating Another Zero Waste to Landfill Achievement

March 2026

The Polyester Film and Performance Polymers manufacturing locations in Greer, SC were certified as Zero Waste to Landfill (ZWLF) by Envita Solutions, LLC (Envita). In alignment with Mitsubishi Chemical America’s (MCA) sustainability goals of waste reduction and landfill diversion, we have partnered with Envita to help us transform complex waste challenges through alternative management methods, including source reduction, recycling, and energy recovery.

MCA has been collaborating with Envita for over three years and is in the process of working with 22 manufacturing sites and remote office locations across the Americas to drive landfill diversion. The recent accomplishment at the Greer site(s) marks the latest addition to our ZWLF certifications, joining the other five MCA sites—Scranton, Fort Wayne, Delmont, Wytheville and Reading—that have successfully achieved Zero Waste to Landfill status.

Strong & Steady Team Commitment

This milestone reflects years of steady effort at the Greer, SC, facility, where teams have worked diligently to redirect waste from landfills and broaden recycling and material recovery initiatives. As of February 18, 2026, the site has officially been certified as a Zero Waste‑to‑Landfill (ZWTL) location after sustaining three consecutive months with no waste sent to landfill and reaching the required 98% diversion rate. This success now serves as a new baseline for continuous improvement and sets the stage for future sustainability initiatives at the site.

“Landfill diversion reduces our environmental impact and strengthens our operational performance. By keeping valuable materials out of landfill, we reduce risk, open up new business model opportunities, and support a more efficient, circular way of thinking.”

James Kohler – Senior Manager, Sustainability

Sustainability isn’t just a responsibility, it’s an opportunity.

It’s about shaping the future by finding innovative ways to reduce environmental impact while driving growth and uncovering cost-effective business opportunities. Every decision we make contributes to something bigger: cleaner air, healthier ecosystems, and a better world for generations to come. Our goal is to achieve KAITEKI — the well-being of people and the planet — and partners like Envita Solutions help us turn complex challenges into innovative, sustainable solutions. We remain committed to minimizing our environmental footprint through a comprehensive, forward‑looking approach to achieving KAITEKI. Based on Envita Solutions site assessment, the Greer facilities diverted nearly all materials through recycling, reuse, energy recovery, and other beneficial methods, with over 97% of waste managed through material recycling processes.
