A Brief History
of Mitsubishi Polyester Film, Americas

1964

Celanese Corporation built PET film manufacturing plant on present site in Greer, SC.

1979

American Hoechst Corporation purchased the PET film production; the Celanar® product name was changed to Hostaphan®.

1987

American Hoechst and Celanese merge to form the Hoechst Celanese Corporation.

1991

A joint venture partnership was created with Mitsubishi Chemical Company to form Hoechst Diafoil Company.

1998

Mitsubishi Chemical Company purchases Greer site with PET film and polymer operations from Hoechst Celanese to form Mitsubishi Polyester Film, Inc.

2003

Startup of state-of-the-art, world class film production line at Greer site

2008

Mitsubishi Polyester Film Group became a part of Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc., under Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corporation.
