Polyester film is the base material of choice for Thermal Transfer Ribbons (TTR). The thermal transfer printing applications are segmented into "standard TTR," Dye Diffusion Thermal Transfer (D2T2), and thermal stencil.

 

For standard TTR, the main thickness is 4.5 microns. Certain applications use 5.7 micron film and some specialty products are based on film thicknesses below 4.5 microns. The combination of mechanical strength and thermal resistance makes Mitsubishi Polyester Film unique for the TTR market.
