Safety information for Hostaphan® and Fusion

Note on “safety data sheets”: EU safety data sheets are not required for Hostaphan® and Fusion films under Article 31 of the new “REACH” regulation, 1907/2006. The film also contains no substances for which communication is required down the supply chain under Articles 32 and 33 of the new regulation. This is because the films are not dangerous according to 67/548/EEC or 1999/45/EC, do not contain persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic (PBT) or very persistent and very bioaccumulative (vPvB) substances and also do not contain substances on the list established in accordance with Article 59(1) of the regulation.

We do not expect that the status of our products will change as the REACH regulation is phased in and substances are registered. But in the unlikely case that the status were to change, we commit to inform all customers who purchased the affected product in the previous 12 months of the change in writing.

The required format of “safety data sheets” in the EU is designed for communicating chemical dangers—which are not posed by our products—and is thus not well suited for physical objects such as our film products. As REACH comes into force on 1 June 2007, Mitsubishi Polyester Film is taking the opportunity to replace our old EU format safety data sheets with better, more pertinent documents on safe handling.
