E.g. white or clear, rough or smooth, glossy or matte film can be designed. But conventional monolayer film will have only one of theses properties on both sides of the film.
Mitsubishi's modern technology allows designing film with two different surfaces combining the opposites like rough and smooth in one product. These products fitting to the most demanding market needs are called "dual surface film".
One of these products is HOSTAPHAN ® MPK with one matt, low gloss surface on one side and a “standard”, glossy surface on the other, allowing clear and sharp printing images on the backside. This makes MPK the ideal solution for high value packaging applications.
Your product needs a film with a very smooth surface with a high coefficient of friction but still needs good handling properties? Then HOSTAPHAN ® RD is the film of choice. HOSTAPHAN ® RD combines a surface with "normal" roughness on one surface, allowing easy handling with a very smooth backside for excellent printing quality or to avoid the slipping of stacked bags.
Other prominent examples from the HOSTAPHAN ® "dual surface" series are HOSTAPHAN ® RHS and HOSTAPHAN ® MHS. While HOSTAPHAN ® RHS combines a sealing layer with a glossy front surface, HOSTAPHAN ® MHS is its sealable counterpart with a matt surface.
